Deleting my former blog and starting again, more or less straight away, has raised an interesting question in my mind. Well, a faintly intriguing one, anyway. Although the same friends as before seem to be reading and commenting, the number of visitors has dropped by 50-75%.

I’ve always wondered whom it was that read my blog but never made themselves known to me. It sometimes made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Were those other visitors spammers who had bookmarked my blog? Or other bloggers who don’t want me to know that they read my blog, presumably worried that I’ll pester them in return? Or – what? If there’s a moral here somewhere, I don’t know what it is. Perhaps it hasn't one.

`Tut, tut, child!' said the Duchess. `Everything's got a moral, if only you can find it.' (Alice in Wonderland)

Cue: sound of searching under keyboard for moral.
