I've just finished decorating the tree. It's a nice moment. Over the years, we've bought Christmas decorations as holiday souvenirs. And we hang round the local garden centre's Christmas Barn like magpies. Result: totally over-the-top decorated tree threatening to collapse under the weight of baubles.
But it brings back happy, romantic memories. This year, we've added a beautiful hand-blown decorated egg from Salzberg and some wooden dolls from the Ukraine. Last year's holiday and short breaks contributed some decorations from Bath, New York and Villard-de-Lans in France. And we held hands in the garden centre. Ah - who needs mistletoe?
Right, that's enough romantic slush. The Christmas Fairy (adopted in Bath) has just hurled herself off the top of the tree, making barfing noises. Back to work I go.

Are we secret twins?
I buy one tree decoration every year. Some of them are now twenty years old and whenever I unwrap them, they bring back happy memories.
And I'm off to Salzberg soon. I intend to buy a xmas decoration there too. I shall try not to buy a beautiful hand blown egg
